REFLECTION
ON PROBLEM BASED LEARNING
Problem
based learning (PBL) is the first assignments in this ICT class for this
semester. There are not much problem i encountered as me and my group member has already experience this PBL style of learning in other subject.
The problem that was given to us is the
issues and challenges in integrating ICT in teaching and learning in our
Malaysian schools. As we know, the Ministry of Education has invested huge
efforts in terms of funding and training to equip teacher and students with ICT
skills because ICT applications have become an important part of teaching and
learning , therefore we are to investigate why this ICT project does not work effectively in some schools.
As
usual, before we are to proceed for further discussion, we will list down all
the facts from the issue given, followed by coming up with some ideas, learning
issues and last action need to be taken in order to find solution to this problem. Then only we can come out with solution to solve
the learning issues. This can be done by browsing through internet, discussion,
interviews and so on.
For me, the
PBL learning style provide a better impact in handling the teaching and learning process. As a
teacher-to-be, I'm keen to practice PBL for my students later if they are up to it because it gives the students wide scope of knowledge and better understanding to the issues discussed. Through
PBL students can develop their soft skills especially communication skill,
group dynamic skill and cognitive skill. Besides, with this PBL activity, we
are able to discuss and give our own opinion towards the issues. Students are
given the room to be more active and involve in the discussion.
