Reflection on Data Logging

REFLECTIONS ON DATA LOGGING

A data logger (also datalogger or data recorder) is an electronic device that records data over time or in relation to location either with a built in instrument or sensor or via external instruments and sensors. It is an instrument that can record data very accurately.

In my opinion this data logging devices help students an scientist greatly in improving their experimental result. The data logger can be used in an extreme condition where human cannot go like deep under the sea and give accurate result on what we are experimenting.Data logging techniques also improve the presentation on the result because the result now is captured by the computer, we can do many things with the result in the computer like extrapolating graph to predict new result.

In overall, the data logging technique provide a new platform for scientist and students to do experiment. We can conclude that data logging helps in speed and ease of capture, better learning outcomes, helps in presentation of data, increased level of interest among students and also to help teachers to create an active learning in the classroom.

Reflections on Simulation and Modelling

REFLECTION OF SIMULATION AND MODELLING

We are instructed to learn this simulation and modelling ways of learning by using the trial program of STELLA by isee system.Stella is a program that offers a practical way to dynamically visualize and communicate how complex systems and ideas really work.Whether they are first-time or experienced modelers, teachers, students, and researchers use STELLA to explore and answer endless questions like:

  • How does climate change influence an ecosystem over time?
  • Would Hamlet’s fate have changed if he’d killed Claudius earlier?
  • How do oil prices respond to shocks in supply and/or demand?
  • What will happen when the ozone layer is gone?
  • How do basic macroeconomic principles affect income and consumption?

After using the Stella software to do some simulation i found that it is a very interesting way of learning new things. This simulation and learning does not only give us many options on how we want to conduct the simulation but it can be done anywhere because it on a virtual world. It's not like the real practical where u need to choose the right time and prepare the material and substances beforehand.

Furthermore, students are more likely understand the process involved as they can see clearly what happen up to the molecular and structural level. This simulation and modelling also cause students to think outside the box and will enhance their creativity.

REFLECTIONS ON SMART SCHOOL

For me the Malaysian Smarts Schools is a very good initiative made by the government to improve the technology of teaching and learning in Malaysia. From my research in the smart schools history and planning. The government has spent a huge amount of time and money to implement this system in Malaysia and the planning is very specific and detailed .

In overall, we can say that the implementation of this education system will produce a better style  in managing and administering  the school, student affairs, educational resources, school finances, human resources and many more by using the advance technology that the world is using to produce an excellence future citizens that will lead our country in the near future.

The problem is that the Smart Schools system is not implemented correctly as the government planned , that why the result are not as good as it expected to be.Some of the problem that has been identified are

- Infrastructure readiness
- Connectivity in the rural area
- Change management compatibility
- Parallel ICT initiatives
- Training of skilled teachers
- Technology obsolescence
- Policies not followed throughly

Therefore the government and the citizens need to do something about the issues arises so that the smart schools system will shows its true color in guiding the future students in the near future.

Reflections on PBL

REFLECTION ON PROBLEM BASED LEARNING

Problem based learning (PBL) is the first assignments in this ICT class for this semester. There are not much problem i encountered as me and my group member has already experience this PBL style of learning in other subject.

The problem that was given to us is the issues and challenges in integrating ICT in teaching and learning in our Malaysian schools. As we know, the Ministry of Education has invested huge efforts in terms of funding and training to equip teacher and students with ICT skills because ICT applications have become an important part of teaching and learning , therefore we are to investigate why this ICT project does not work effectively in some schools.

As usual, before we are to proceed for further discussion, we will list down all the facts from the issue given, followed by  coming up with some ideas, learning issues and last action need to be taken in order to find solution to this problem. Then only we can come out with solution to solve the learning issues. This can be done by browsing through internet, discussion, interviews and so on.

For me, the PBL learning style provide a better impact in handling the teaching and learning process. As a teacher-to-be, I'm keen to practice PBL for my students later if they are up to it because it gives the students wide scope of knowledge and better understanding to the issues discussed. Through PBL students can develop their soft skills especially communication skill, group dynamic skill and cognitive skill. Besides, with this PBL activity, we are able to discuss and give our own opinion towards the issues. Students are given the room to be more active and involve in the discussion.

Project : Energy Physics Renewable Energy Power Supply

Assalamualikumwarahmatullahiwabarakatuh.
Today i want to share some project that me and my group had done in semester 3 for ENERGY physic courses. We are told to come up with our own model of renewable type of energy. So we choose to generate electricity using moving water as source of energy that in simple term hydroelectric. We named the model "Junkyard Electric".
Lets us see some of the procedure involved in producing the parts of Junkyard Electric in slide below.
PS: first part of the slide is the intro on history of electricity and how to produce it from magnetic flux.

energy physics simple power supply from itiktokwi

As you can see we are using components that had been used in other application to produce this model of simple electric generator except for the turbine of course  XD..To see whether the model can produce electricity or not let us watch the video made by my friend above.

Hope you get some(if not some little) benefit from reading this post. Any comment is welcomed.Come on you grammar Nazi..
